Tony's Story about Sprouts
 

I have been a ballroom dancer since the age of 12. While on my parents farm my mother said I should go  to learn to dance. So I went to my first public dance in Fenwick, Ontario. I learned square dancing and other country steps while a 3 pc band played for the older people ( they were probably 35 and up) I obviously was the youngest person there.  And of course everyone wanted to help me learn. What more could I ask for.  I told you this in this story because I have been very active in dancing to get a lot of exercise. It really has been a great help to me over the years.

In 1964 while lifting my child into the back seat of my car, I got a sudden pain in my back and could not straighten up. I was hunched over for the following 3 months with a severe pain. After examining the Xray, my very knowledgeable Doctor said the problem was in my spine and that I would need an operation.
I definitely did not want to have an operation, so set out on a quest for alternatives.
In the next weeks that followed I went to a masseuse in the Kingsway in Toronto who operated at the back of his mansion. He and his wife had a small building in which he had a wood burning stove and a steam room and tables and they tried everything over a period of 3 weeks with no positive results. My next choice was to see a chiropractor. But after many hours each day/ and several weeks he was unable to help.  I began to think , maybe my doctor was right ?.
Anyway, I didn't give up. I went to New York and then to Michigan where I spoke to doctors in hospitals with no positive answers.  Finally another visit with my chiropractor. This time he suggested a visit to the Chiropractic College on Bloor St. where he introduce me to the president.   ( They are no longer at that location ).  The college took me under their wing and decided to take 20 vials of blood for testing along with hair and fingernail samples.  About a week later they said they wanted to inject 200,000 units of various nutrients into my blood stream every morning and night for at least 4 days, which they did.  Now looking back I can see that what they were going to do was to give me a heavy detox. At that time the word detoxify was not very well known by the public. In fact I cannot remember them using that word. The result of those injections was that in the next 4 days my body started to unload heavy sludge-yellow, green and black. I used our baby's cloth diapers instead of normal size hankies to hold everything that emanated from my body.  By the 5th day I could straighten up and I had no more pain.  I never did go back to my family doctor to tell him what happened. I did not need that operation. The strange thing about all of this is that as a child I was always sniffling. My nose always seemed plugged. And after this event at the college, my nose problems also cleared up.  It seemed my body just needed a boost in high volumes of nutrition to loosen the sludge that had collected. to correct the lack of good nutrition over many ears of eating cooked food which was delicious but not healthy.  By the way I was charged $75.00 or that evaluation. Which is like $250.00 today.
Because of this experience in my life, I began to study articles and read books on the subject and found out that sprouts had the highest concentration of nutrients.  One story I read (and I wish I had kept information about the article) said that the sprout is like a human child. It gets everything at birth. Everything it needs is in it at birth..  The article described how I could grow my own sprouts in jars.  I did that for a number of years thereafter.  Vitamins were not as common in those days as they are today and of course much more expensive. So I became a city farmer in my own kitchen using seeds and beans that were probably full of DDT. But at that time that is all we had.
Approximately 4 years later I purchased a very expensive all glass sprout grower. It worked much better but was still difficult to grow plants in my kitchen in a simple way without getting mold and all the other problems that could occur while they are growing. Because of my diet, and over these years I have very rarely ever been ill for any reason. Good improved nutrition did help me.
Because of my experiences in those years I decided in 2002 to investigate how I could devise some simple inexpensive efficient system to grow sprouts. so that I could teach people what I had learned over so many years. After testing all kinds of methods I found by using a simple sieve with legs on the bottom sitting on the right shaped dish I could grow them very quickly and change water in seconds to keep them clean. Cleanliness is very important to avoid any kind of impurities to grow.  ( But that is the same for any food )

Here is the rest that I learned by reading and using common sense.
When a human child is born it does not matter whether the mother is black, white or yellow. The child will be given all nutritional elements at birth. No mother says to its child I am only going to give you vitamin C or D.  However after it is born and within a few days of birth the genes of the child will decide what it should retain as it grows.
The exact same thing happens with ALL growth of vegetation. As an example lets take a head of lettuce. Our scientists have told us that there is very little nutrition in a head of lettuce.( Mind you though, we really don't know everything about nutrition yet, do we ?. ) But during the first days of birth everything nutritionally is in place in the baby of the lettuce.  If you eat the "baby plant". before the genes discard what it does not need, then you will get the full value of nutrition from that vegetable.   This is a very important point.  When you purchase vegetables in a store, they are almost always older than 9 or 10 days. The genes have already discarded what they do not need as a grown plant.
Over the past 6 years I have written to several eMail addresses I found in respect to nutrition evaluations of food.  The question I always ask is how old were those items when the study was done. There answer in almost every case has been "I am not sure".   And if there study pointed out that It had  X amount of nutrients I asked "did you ask for an evaluation of the other possible nutrients".  The answer invariably came back.  "No we did not".  But in most letters which I sent to get answers I did NOT get a reply.

I have been eating sprouts off and on for over 45 years. More in the past 25 years.  I have rarely been ill.
Between dancing and quality food. Make my own bread or buy nutritious bread when it is on sale. Have a variety of food each day. Never the same thing day after day.  Rather eat at home than out. But I do have a McDonalds sandwich about once a month. Sometimes twice.
While living in Stoney Creek ,Ontario I had a family doctor that said I had a heart murmur.  After moving to Burlington I started to visit a Naturopathic doctor. After tests, he said he does not think I ever had any heart problem ??  So much for that.
I am over 70 years of age and go dancing often as possible.  Tea dancing in Toronto on Wednesdays and various other styles of dancing at clubs all over Ontario and Florida. I've yet to find a partner to keep up to my activity in business, dancing and travel.  Maybe one day.!?

And that is not by doing Monkey dancing.

                    This is my current diet and living habit.
 
In the morning when I get out of bed. I drink a half glass of distilled water with Trace minerals   added. .
I have at least one to two tablespoons of sprouts each morning to give me a heavy dose of enzymes. I take these with my water.  It's called an "ENZYME" KICK.

1)  I then go on a "CHI" mahine for 15 minutes . Every morning. And I do not make a commission on these.
2)
 I then use a cirgular spring to exorcize my Leg and Arm muscles.  No commissions but I should.
3)  Next I get on my stationery bike in front of the TV and do approximately 15 minutes of biking to exorcize my legs . I am a ballroom dancer and cannot afford to forget to do this.  I got the bike at the Goodwill store for $10.00 many years ago.
4)  Because I am a ballroom dancer I do a dancers excorsize by pulling my heals against my bum for 20 seconds for each leg. This gives my knees the exsorsize so that I do not need knee operations as so many people are getting.
5) I go dancing from 3 to 4 times each week as a senior. I have taken dance lessons every adult year of my life. I have just signed up for a refresher course of Argentine Tango lessons to start January 5th in Toronto.

                                                           The Food I eat
When I first get up I take a half ounce of "Colloidal Silver" , hold it under my tongue , swish it arround my mounth to cover my teeth as well. Please read everything about this wonder liquid.
BREAKFAST
Before Breakfast I have 2 or 3 tablespoons of 24 hour old sprouts and a glass of water.  Then I have Breakfast.
I do not use animal milk. I use mostly Almond Milk. But still occasionally drink cows or goat milk. Using various serials . Every day different natural organic serials with all kinds of organic fruit added.
Sometimes I have a morning break at about 10 to 10.30am . One cup of Organic Coffee a week is my limit now. Along with that I might have a toasted slice of bread or a cookie. But never the same thing every day.
LUNCH
I prefer to eat at home.  I buy Chicken bones. $1.00 for one big bag full which makes 2 LARGE pots of soup to which I add vegetables , herbs,etc.  That one dollar gives me homemade soup every day for lunch for one month. Total cost about $2.00.for one month.  To that I add 2 tablespoons of 2 to 4 day old sprouts after it has been warmed. Now I am getting ALL my nutrients to keep my body healthy. I remove the fat from the soup when it is thawing after being in the freezer.
I also alternate my soup cooking using BEEF MARROW bones.  Cost , is usually nothing because the local store usually throw them out because no one else wants them. Cost is about $1.00 to $2.00 per month for the various vegetables and herbs I put into the soup.
You can buy MUNG beans for only $2.50 to $4.00 per lb. by buying them in 25 lb. bags.
1 pound of mung beans will grow from 7 to 10 sprout grower dishes which will give you approximately 30 days of ORGANIC vegetables to add to your soup and other meals.  One dish will give you 3 half cups of sprouts. So I eat a half cup of sprouts each day. Usually more. 
DINNER
I eat anything that I have been taught to eat by my parents.  That means everything except beef which I might have in a McDonalds sandwich once a month along with some chicken and lots of fish. I do like canned sardines. They are inexpensive and very healthy. Read Dr Mercolas articles on Food.
I NEVER eat the same items every day. I mix all my meals with different foods every day of the week.

BEDTIME
I usually have a cup of TEA. and if still hungary often make myself a slize of rye bread placed under the broiler with one to 2 large cloves crushed and spread over the bread.  And I ALWAYS sleep well throughout the night from 6 to 8 hours.

Please don't think I do this exactly the same way all the time. But I do it most of the time.
I do go out to dinner. Preferably to a lighted Restaurant so I can see what I have been served. I have been in business all my years of life and have in the past eaten in fancy restaurants paying top dollar for the dinners. What a waste that was.  I remember one occasion where I happened to lift a large sirloin steak that was served to me only to find a very large HORSE FLY under the steak.  It was dark but light enough to see the Fly.  I could tell you many stories like that .  So I try to stay out of that type of situation.  You really can't expect cooking staff to take the interest in cleanliness that you personally would. Can you ?


In the past 3 months I have been stocking up in organic and non organic fruits and vegetables that I dehydrate at home and put into glass jars. I now have at least 150 large glass jars full of every kind of food including dried potatoes, mushrooms, egg plant etc.etc.etc.  And there are many recipes on the web showing how to use them after they have been dehydrated.  When any store I go to has big bags of bananas on sale for one dollar because there is a mark on the outside (and usually good on the inside ) I buy them and dehydrate them.  I don't add any chemicals to anything I dry.

I could tell you more about my living habits but this is enough for you to start making you think about food and costs. 

Isn't it a shame that we don't encourage sprout growing in the third world countries. You can buy mung beans in India by the Ton for TEN CENTS a pound. One pound makes 30 days of the highest quality nutrition for a hunan body.if the person eats a half cup a day.  Which according to a study by the University of Ulster shows that 2 weeks of eating only a half a cup of sprouts changes the DNA of cancer cells.

Imagine food for only 10 cents a month !.

                                                                           A Reflection on Life
Every morning when I awake during these cold winter days I can see two black squirels in the trees next to the street which separates the apartment building in which I live from the Burlington Mall.  The two squirels chase each other. Nudge each other.  They don't need an apartment heated like ours. They are happy with the very simplest things in life.  Love and exorsize.  Together and happy.  We can learn from them. 

A few months later in the Spring of 2009
One lonely squirl sat on a ledge next to my Flower garden which I planted. He was alone. Every morning I would see him alone from my bedroom window. He would look into the trees. He would look to the left and to the right.  What happened to his mate?  It was waiting and looking all over the yard and the trees. But its mate did not come and then-- After 2 weeks I know longer saw the squirl.  What happened ?  Did its mate get run over by a car ?. Did it die of old age ? Did it leave to go looking for another mate in another area. It looks so lonely.  I'll wait. I do hope it finds another mate.

I will wait and see. .
It is now mid July.  Finally this morning I saw my little friend,  by himself sitting in the midle of the colorful flowers , looking all over.  His mate was not with him. He was alone.   I know how he must feel.
It is August 3rd.2009
I saw the black squirel today looking for food.  Then a few minutes later I also saw another gray squirel running arround the yard. They were not together. Is this a future mate ?.  
Its the beginning of September, The same GREY squirel is now playing every day with the black squirel.  I can only asume it has now found a mate., Wonderful.

Now it is winter.  I see the black squirrel running and scrumaging for food.  It's mate is probably in their nest. Perhaps having babies ??  We will see in the spring.
